Job Summary


The UPS Store Assistant Retail Store Assistant Lead helps the Store Lead run the day-to-day operations of this retail location and shares responsibility to meet key success metrics. S/he will work with the Store Lead to ensure store efficiency, profitability, and that sales and financial goals are met. S/he will also focus on self-development under the Store Lead’s guidance and will assist him or her in coaching and developing Associates, with intent to maintain a pipeline of future talent in-store and within the broader organization. The Assistant Store Lead will work full time, act as keyholder (open and close the store) and will help the Store Lead to manage productivity and labor hours and ensure the store’s team delivers World-Class customer service to all. S/he will assist the Store Lead with a variety of back-end operations activities, including training and development; coordinating with the Human Resources team in hiring, managing personnel concerns, onboarding, offboarding, and other; managing to a P&L with cost and expense control; ordering supplies; paying bills; and coordinating facilities maintenance and improvements as identified.

Job Duties


The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED (college coursework or a degree preferred), one year of retail store operations experience, strong supervisory/managerial/leadership skills, excellent computer/internet/software knowledge, the physical ability to perform this job (lifting, bending, etc.), and knows how to listen, follow, lead, and help the Store Lead attain defined targets. He or she must have a dynamic personality and must be able to help motivate a team to optimize performance.

Other Duties


• Helps with managing and overseeing store operations, developing a routine for opening and closing, ensuring efficient functioning of the store, managing the sales floor, and providing maximum profitability. Assists with leading front-end operations

• Assists the Store Lead in implementing human resource duties in coordination with the HR team, including recruiting, hiring, training, and firing, managing schedules, assigning responsibilities, and setting sales quotas and performance management based on metrics

• Co-reviews daily employee timesheets and submission for payroll processing

• Participates in administration of accounting functions, meeting monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and financial targets, managing the budget and generating payroll by adhering to payroll policy. Assists in bill payment including rent, utilities, vendors and other

• Assists in control of inventory to ensure sufficient stock, daily and weekly counts, rotate and changed by season, store specials or sales

• Aids enforcement of exceptional customer service, setting criteria for staff, establishing security and safety measures, creating emergency and lock-down strategy, and ensuring health and safety compliance

• Collaborates on loss prevention efforts through security requirements and monitoring strategies, auditing paperwork and inventory levels and appropriately handling broken or damaged merchandise

• Helps oversee store maintenance, including cleanliness, safety, and organization

• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements


• High school diploma or GED required

• Advanced education degree, coursework, or tech school desired

• One year of supervisory experience in logistics, retail, or other relevant industry

• P&L experience preferred

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite

• Outstanding phone skills

• Strong customer service skills and abilities
