Warehouse Worker Onboarding FAQ
Everything You Need to Know for Your First Day
What should I wear?
We recommend that you dress in layers so you can adjust to temperature changes throughout the facility and throughout your shift. We’re fairly flexible with what you wear so long as it’s comfortable and practical. Our only rules are no loose-fitting clothes that might get caught in mechanical equipment, no shirts, hats or jackets with offensive themes, images or logos, and no loose or long jewelry—it’s better to leave all jewelry at home.
Shoes or boots must be black or brown and polishable. They must have sturdy uppers made of leather, man-made leather or similar protective material, provide good support and have non-slip soles. Examples of bad footwear include tennis shoes/sneakers/running shoes, loafers, sandals and anything that does not provide protection and support.
What documents do I need to bring with me?
Please review the list of acceptable documents and BRING ORIGINALS—copies will not be accepted. You may present one selection from List A or a combination of one selection from List B and one selection from List C.
How will UPS get in touch with me prior to my start date?
Check your email to confirm your official start date and for other important information in your welcome letter.
How do I get into the facility?
Most UPS facilities have guard posts to enter and exit the building. Follow all procedures at your facility.
What’s the best way to get to the facility?
How you get to and from work is up to you. All we ask is that you report for work on time every day—your coworkers and our customers are counting on you—and that you have reliable transportation. It’s a good idea to check your commute time.
Is there anything else I need to bring with me?
Water. The work here is very physical and it’s essential that you stay well hydrated.
