Job Description:

The Country Engineering Manager supports UPS's international operations by developing, implementing, and monitoring engineering processes and procedures to achieve business results. He/She ensures service levels, analyzes current practices, and aligns international operations with company objectives.

Tasks:

  • Independently conducts standard analyses to identify problems in methods, processes, or workflow; interprets results of analyses; recommends solutions to address identified requirements, problems, or inefficiencies.
  • Selects the most appropriate method(s) for conducting gap analysis and performance assessment; establishes performance measures (e.g. balance scorecard measures); investigates and determines root cause(s) of performance problems; identifies areas for improvement in measures and measurement methods and makes recommendations for changes.
  • Prepares reports to inform senior management of International Engineering's impact on corporate goals, objectives, and volume and revenue performance.
  • Adapts strategies to local needs through understanding of local country markets and customers. Analyzes complex and unique issues that exist within local markets and countries to determine the factors that can be adapted within the culture, infrastructure, and customers.
  • Assesses the local, country, and business risk of proposed solutions. Gains support for solutions that may encounter resistance. Removes organizational, procedural, cultural, and environmental barriers to implementing solutions. Creates an environment to learn from new perspectives found both internal and external to UPS.
  • Develops project management plans and leads the implementation for moderately complex and medium duration projects as well as basic programs; defines most of the initiatives project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; develops recommendations on best way to fulfill the project requirements given the current project and organizational dynamics; overcomes basic organizational resistance to cross-functional demands; demonstrates ability to successfully apply the project management discipline and remains current on project management practices and tools.
  • Designs complex work methods, processes and flows; identifies potential opportunities to improve work methods, processes, and flows; develops guidance on implementation of work processes, flows, or methods to ensure that components meet design specifications; develops new tools for designing work processes, flows, and methods; identifies emerging issues that impact work design.
  • Analyzes current processes and procedures to determine areas for improvement.
  • Engages people across multiple cultures and geographies to adapt their management, process, operational perceptions and selects these people.
  • Actively seeks to establish strategic relationships at multiple levels of the organization across different functions and business units.
  • Seeks out and builds strong relationships with colleagues and teams at the same level, but in different countries and cultures. Builds trusting relationships across multiple cultures at the country and organizational level. Actively discusses the business and cultural differences across levels, business units, and countries to expand knowledge of these areas.
  • Independently conducts standard analyses to identify problems in methods, processes, or workflow; interprets results of analyses; recommends solutions to address identified requirements, problems, or inefficiencies.

Requirements

  • University or College degree preferably in the field of Engineering
  • At least 2 years experience preferably in process engineering or project management
  • Good people management skills
  • Fluent level of English and in Hungarian
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Self-motivated, initiative personality and good team player
