United Parcel Service (UPS) Singapore Pte. Ltd is the world's largest package delivery company and one of the leading global providers of specialized transportation and logistics services. It also has a strong engineering department which is constantly looking for opportunities to improve our processes, service and cost. As such, we are in the lookout for like-minded people who can contribute and come up with innovative solutions to the ever-changing business landscape.

The Industrial Engineering (IE) Analyst supports business planning by developing daily, monthly, and annual plans for the Package operations. He/She forecasts volume and productivity targets to ensure that business plans are achieved. He/She also develops long term plans to determine and optimize operations capacities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts Operational Forecasting

    • Review and research daily and weekly trends (e.g., historical volume, marketing forecasts, recent economic data, etc.), and develops volume projections for planning to forecast future resource needs.

    • Develops annual staffing projections by week and by day of week for processes to provide a cost-effective operating plan


  • Analyzes Operating Plans
    • Analyze current operating plan to determine opportunities for improving the process and workflow (e.g. analyze process flow charts and production schedules, etc.).
    • Review recommendations (e.g., improved job set ups, operating plans, etc.) with IE Section Managers and Operations managers to gain approval.

    • Develop contingency plans for unexpected situations to ensure preparedness.


  • Provides Operational Support
    • Identifies process improvement opportunities to increase efficiencies. Reviews operational performance with management to identify areas of improvement.

    • Assists with special operating projects (e.g., holiday plans. Peak planning etc..) to help achieve operational objectives.

Key Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or any related discipline
  • Demonstrate strong numerical aptitude with an excellent grasp of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Access; proficiency in VBA coding will be an advantage.
  • Possess good interpersonal / communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
  • Display ability to both work in a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Possess good analytical, problem solving skills
