APAC Compliance & Ethics Supervisor (Region Office)

Job Summary

As the Corporate Compliance and Ethics Supervisor, you will manage the implementation of Corporate Compliance and Ethics programs (e.g., Help Line, Business Ethics Questionnaire, Code of Business Conduct, Insider Trading, Compliance training programs, etc.) within the Asia Pacific Region.

Your day-to-day work includes collaborating with other functions to monitor and continually improve existing processes to ensure that compliance programs are aligned with regulations, laws, policies, procedures, and processes. In addition, you will have to convey the company's values and ethics through trainings, presentations, and communications.

The successful candidate will support and engage the Region Staff via the Business Risk and Compliance Committee to facilitate risk discussions and manage risk mitigation project plans to ensure compliance with applicable policies, laws and regulations.

This position will be based in the UPS Singapore region office and reports to the Corporate Compliance & Ethics Director (based in Singapore).

Job Responsibilities

Manages Day-to-Day Compliance and Ethics Activities

  • Research and resolve Compliance and Ethics issues to protect UPS’s ethical conduct standards and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements;

  • Evaluate compliance procedures and program effectiveness to ensure procedures are written to standards and programs facilitate ethical behavior;

  • Ensure affected functions and groups are identified and works with them to negotiate process changes and ownerships of processes to manage project impact;

  • Review stakeholders’ corrective action plans to ensure feasibility and thoroughness;

  • Collaborate with auditors to ensure appropriate areas are audited and compliant; and

  • Conduct compliance and regulatory assessments to identify risks and gaps, improve processes, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and UPS’s policies and procedures.

  • Assist, manage or lead investigations, where appropriate.

Manages Compliance Training and Communication Programs and Projects

  • Oversee the implementation of compliance and ethics training programs to educate employees on policies, procedures, and processes and to achieve UPS’s compliance and ethics objectives;

  • Coordinates the development and translation of training programs and materials with internal resources and vendors to ensure accuracy, quality, and deadlines are met;

  • Reviews training programs, communications, delivery methods, target audiences, and content to determine necessary training modifications and ensure alignment with regulations, laws, policies, procedures, and processes; and

  • Pilot, deploy, and evaluate training initiatives to ensure training adheres to UPS’s standards and requirements.


Facilitates the Region Business Risk & Compliance Committee (BRCC)

  • Support Compliance & Ethics Director and relevant stakeholders to coordinate and facilitate risk identification, assessment and discussions at the Region BRCC; and

  • Escalate high risk topics to the District, Region or Corporate functions to ensure adequate support and attention is accorded so as to facilitate project plan execution.


Manages Regulatory Compliance Projects
  • Collaborate with Legal and Public Affairs to ensure compliance with new and existing laws and regulations in Asia Pacific jurisdictions;

  • Coordinate internal resources for the execution of risk mitigation projects to ensure that deliverables are on-time, within scope and within budget. Projects are primarily regulatory-focused, to ensure continued levels of compliance with applicable policies, laws and regulations;

  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility; and

  • Leverage applicable project management platforms to monitor and provide periodic reporting of the project status via the Business Risk and Compliance Committee.

Support and implement Privacy programs
  • Coordinate matters concerning data privacy and protection with Region Data Protection Officer, and support data privacy program by fostering a data protection culture in country;

  • Coordinate all matters concerning data privacy and protection with Global Privacy Office and alerting Countries of data protection/privacy risks;

  • Promote awareness for Privacy Impact Awareness (PIA) requirements, and managing process in cooperation with Global Privacy office;

  • Conduct assessments of state of data protection and privacy readiness, and work with stakeholders to develop and track corrective action plans; and

  • Conduct self-assessments in Country offices based on UPS' Information Security and Privacy policy.


Job Requirements
  • Background in finance & accounting, audit or legal preferred;

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, and proficient in English (written and oral)

  • As this is a regional role and will need to communicate with counterparts where English may not be the primary language

  • Ability to effectively manage and communicate with management;

  • At least 3-5 years of management experience in a MNC preferred;

  • Proven working experience in project management with proficiency in project management software is a plus;

  • Willingness to obtain relevant professional compliance & ethics and data privacy certification (e.g. SCCE, IAPP);

  • Occasional travel within Asia Pacific jurisdictions.
