Job Summary

This position impacts revenue and profitable growth by leading the Marketing team in Product Development and Management, Retail Marketing, Segment Marketing, Brand Management, Customer Communications, and Public Relations. The incumbent works closely with the Vice President of Business Development to ensure strong collaboration exists between their respective teams, growth and improvement opportunities are clearly identified, strategies for opportunity pursuit are developed, date driven action plans are established, skill gaps are identified and closed, and standardized measurements are utilized to track results. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with The UPS Store (TUPSS) senior management team to produce growth and profitability as determined in the annual business and profit plans by providing strategic business input for defining future direction (e.g., revenue, selling, growing franchise revenue, etc.) to achieve goals
  • Interfaces with Business Development senior management to identify growth and improvement opportunities by developing strategies for cross-portfolio selling opportunities to increase profitability
  • Develops and integrates knowledge of competitors' networks, operating models, pricing strategies, go-to-market strategies, as well as industry trends and TUPSS capabilities to identify advantages, disadvantages, and vulnerabilities
  • Leads efforts for developing and evaluating sound strategic options, identifies and selects objectives, and assesses likely customer and competitor responses to alternative strategies to drive the greatest impact
  • Articulates and prioritizes implications, opportunities, risks, dependencies, key levers that drive customer value, and strategic issues with key environmental trends to grow the business and increase profitability
  • Oversees product development (e.g., concept development, field testing, network engagement, commercialization, etc.) to aggressively grow services and develop strategies and plans to change revenue mix
  • Manages Public Relations and Customer Communications to ensure functional teams are achieving established objectives and remaining current with broader organizational efforts to properly sequence and integrate programs
  • Partners with Franchisee Representative Committee to gain franchisee support and coordinates with UPS Brand Management to provide direction in maintaining and enhancing brands utilized in profit centers and to ensure the direction is aligned with UPS brand strategy
  • Manages significant advertising budget to achieve desired business objectives
  • Develops Franchisee and Area Franchisee relationships through the Representative Committee to ensure open communication and idea sharing while developing and maintaining relationships with UPS U.S. Marketing, Customer Communications, and Advertising to foster collaboration between key individuals and departments and ensure strategic alignment

Preferences

  • Possesses experience working in Retail or Franchising industries
  • Master’s degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Marketing
