Job Summary

The Center Freight Operations Specialist II coordinates Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) North American Freight Forwarding inbound and outbound freight shipments and deliveries, dispatches drivers for deliveries and pickups, and determine drive routes to meet deadlines and create efficiencies. The incumbent interacts with drivers to coordinate pickups at customer sites and SCS service centers, provides alerts of changing weather and traffic conditions, and relays changes to customer delivery and pickup information.  

The Center Freight Operations Specialist II is responsible for facilitating movement of freight to coordinate inbound and outbound air freight shipments and to ensure compliance with federal and UPS rules and regulations. This role utilizes the Freight Forwarding system to update freight shipment and customer pickup and delivery information and to track driver mileage and fuel usage. The Center Freight Operations Specialist II performs freight reweighs and ensures correct rate calculations to recover revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Generates shipment manifest reports to review shipment and delivery status and verify volume
  • Compiles and prepares delivery performance reports
  • Coordinates maintenance repairs to ensure equipment functionality and driver safety
  • Informs customers of pickup and delivery delays and service interruptions
  • Contacts commercial air carriers to locate lost and missing freight
  • Performs weekend freight inventory to maintain security and accountability
  • Coordinates air cargo shipments, system updates, and transfer to/from the UPS air gateway
  • Conducts Health and Safety and other training sessions as required
  • Oversees application of the company environmental program
  • Interfaces with dock and driver staff daily to maximize pickup and delivery route efficiency
  • Provides support to the sales team for customer development and maintenance

  • Willing to work occasional flexible shift hours and occasional weekends
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Experience working as Center Operations Specialist
  • Possesses Customer Service experience
  • Preferred to have 10-key punch ability and type 40 WPM or better
