About Applications Development at UPS Technology:
Our Application Development teams use their expertise in programming languages and software design to develop next-generation technology. They are responsible for developing the applications which track and move up to 38 million packages in a single day (4.7 billion annually). This team works closely with all of our customers to build innovative technologies that are customized to drive our business and provide the ultimate customer experience. As a member of the applications development family, you will help UPS grow and provide valuable services across the globe.
About this role:
The Intermediate Applications Developer will be part of a team that is responsible for development, maintenance, production support and system upgrades for a mission critical application that is used daily in UPS Operations. He/She provides input and support for full systems life cycle management activities (e.g., analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.). He/She performs tasks within planned durations and established deadlines. This position collaborates with teams to ensure effective communication in supporting the achievement of objectives. He/She provides knowledge, development, maintenance, and support for applications.
The Intermediate Applications Developer will be a member of the Order Management / Package Monitoring Control Applications Development team. The position entails designing, implementing, and maintaining code and data. Responsibilities include reviewing functional requirements, writing design and technical specifications, code implementation, defect correction, unit testing, and participation in design and code reviews and mentoring of more junior team members.
The ideal candidate must be able to provide phone support on a 24/7 rotating basis.
- 2 to 3 years’ experience with Agile Development, Java Programming and SQL Language
- 1 year experience with Angular, OpenShift, Spring, Messaging
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent Troubleshooting skills
- Motivated self-starter
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or the equivalent in education and work experience
