Senior Distribution Manager
UPS is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Distribution Manager to impact the organization by developing, implementing, and leading multiple successful customer operations. He/She directs and controls activities in multiple facilities with multiple customers to ensure efficient and profitable distribution services, generally with personal responsibility for meeting a revenue plan. The Senior Distribution Manager develops operational goals and plans, monitors and communicates operations performance against plan, monitors margins, and acts as a liaison with customers, while overseeing managers and supervisors within the department.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Directs and controls operational activities for multiple facilities to ensure efficient and profitable distribution services
- Monitors the implementation of defined operational processes to meet customer deadlines, identify cost reduction opportunities, and maximize efficiencies
- Acts as a customer liaison within UPS Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) to set operational priorities and coordinate internal functions for improving efficiency
- Manages the efficient use of the workforce to adhere to safe work practices and achieve high quality service
- Collaborates with the District Controller to develop account-level profit and loss statements, financial reports, and forecasts
- Manages expense margins to achieve revenue goals reflected in the financial plan and analyzes client profitability
- Provides exceptional customer support on new account implementation, customer service, problem resolution, and quality control
- Develops strategic relationships with key customers to ensure long-term account stability, prevent churn, and garner UPS resources for meeting customer needs
- Tracks progress on performance standards to validate compliance within defined goals and highlight recommendations for improvement
- Oversees the development of operational and account-specific metrics to provide timely and accurate information on performance standards
- Manages resources and people processes (e.g., Performance Management, Career Development, Training, Staffing, etc.) to ensure the day to day administration of processes and formal procedures
- Coaches and holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience with budget management and adherence to financial targets and organizational financial plans
- Knowledge of legal, regulatory and compliance practices and programs to reduce risks and enhance safety
- Detailed understanding on Supply Chain concepts with ability to make recommendations for process improvements
- Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
