PPM Industrial Engineering Supervisor

The Package Process Management (PPM) Project Supervisor provides support and enhancements to existing and new operations systems to ensure projects are aligned with the corporate strategy. He/She gathers business requirements, initiates feasibility studies, and maintains data for the project's life cycle. The PPM Project Supervisor serves as liaison between stakeholders, software developers, and end users.

The PPM Project Supervisor creates and develops functional design requirements (e.g., user acceptance test [UAT] scripts, UAT lab testing for PFT, DIAD/DCS, ODSe, and ORION. He/She works directly with the IT team and initiative sponsors to gather requirements, design, test, and deploy Package Flow Technology to the package centers. The PPM Project Supervisor updates user manuals to ensure functionality data is current and conducts application training to provide end users and management with information on the systems' functionality. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops business cases to ensure projects are aligned with UPS's corporate strategy 
  • Performs cost benefit analyses to ensure effective use of UPS resources and maximum return-on-investment
  • Conducts survey meetings with end users to clarify business requests and determine project cost
  • Reports application defects to Information Systems (IS) to ensure resolution prior to deployment
  • Attends stakeholders’ status meetings to provide application progress reports  
  • Maintains application documentation to ensure user guides are current and user-friendly
  • Confers with requestors and IS to ensure project scope is clearly defined
  • Runs test scripts to ensure applications meet end users' needs

Knowledge and Skills

  • Critical thinker with ability to understand and solve complex problems
  • Solicits and gathers information using various probing techniques
  • Understands technology used by the company and applies technology standards in daily work
  • Analytical with ability to identify routine work methods, processes, and flows
  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree)
  • Willing to work flexible shift hours such as pre-load (2 am – 12 pm) or hub twilight (11 pm – 10 am) 
  • Available to travel 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products or equivalent software - Preferred
  • Experience with running basic data queries via Microsoft Access or equivalent - Preferred
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency using UDC, E2DC, DPS, PAS, DIAD, and ORION - Preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of package operations procedures - Preferred
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency using web based tools to investigate field test issues - Preferred
  • Experience as a Dispatch Supervisor - Preferred
  • SQL experience - Preferred
