Job Description:

The Finance Planning Specialist is responsible for working with ACMX operations as part of the business planning process, as well as monthly and quarterly variance explanations. Responsible for producing and maintaining weekly and monthly reports and forecasts. Completing quarterly planning and audits, financial analyses, and other ad hoc projects as requested. Provide monthly and quarterly variance explanations for financial results compared to plan. Monthly Closing responsibilities and weekly cost forecasts.

The Specialist performs the planning, forecasting, expense recognition, variance analysis, account reconciliation, and financial reporting related to UPS’ union payroll and benefits.  To perform these functions, the Specialist works closely with the IE department, Airline Finance, Payroll, Labor and management daily.  These tasks are performed on an on-going weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. The Specialist position plays a pivotal role in Aircraft Maintenance as continual requests regarding union expense arise daily. In addition, as the UPS aircraft fleet continues to grow, additional union mechanics will be hired to support the aircraft maintenance needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts data source searches to ensure pertinent data capture.
  • Organizes data into various formats to ensure reports are user-friendly.
  • Retrieves and interprets performance data.
  • Assists with generating and presenting reports.
  • Identifies data collection methods to assist management and interpret fluctuations.
  • Provides UPS data support to meet requestor’s data needs.
  • Recommends methods for improving summarization techniques.
  • Dissects performance information and verifies data accuracy.


Qualifications:

  • Business degree or working towards bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related business field.
  • Microsoft Access/Excel i.e., pivot tables, formula creation.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Attention to detail.
  • Research and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication skills (both oral and written). 

Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge of UPS Finance and Accounting systems.
  • Working knowledge of Longview, OBI, and BRIO. Good Interpersonal skills a plus.
  • Experience with union labor

Other Criteria:

Return to office business model will require at least two days a week in the office starting in November 2023. Flexible start time, plus or minus one hour.
