Enterprise Network Planning Supervisor

The NPT Schedule and Equipment Supervisor is responsible for providing rationalized data for Air and Surface network planning and assisting in the construction of transportation planning models. He/She supports the Scheduling Manager platform and overall NPT program visions to create, design, and implement cost effective transportation strategies.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Reviews transportation data analyses to understand current network characteristics
  • Completes end user application analyses to identify expected system outcomes and to determine the source of system abnormalities
  • Reviews and summarizes data to assist application development
  • Collaborates with IT to design detailed data requirements for review and approval by the product team
  • Supports new transportation product development to provide operational direction of product considerations and alignment with organizational goals
  • Communicates project findings to UPS stakeholders to make recommendations on projects’ potential for alignment of UPS business plans with corporate objectives
  • Reviews project requests from UPS corporate stakeholders to determine project scope
  • Collaborates with UPS stakeholders to troubleshoot system, operational, and service inefficiencies and to create plan enhancements that result in improved performance

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrates some advanced knowledge of database design principles; works with users to define requirements with minimal oversight from others; defines user rights; describes security measures, such as passwords, firewalls, and access rights based on user requirements; describes information organization, such as classes, links, records, and fields
  • Follows standard guidelines to update existing standards; provides input into developing data standards with some assistance from others; reviews customer data to ensure consistent and widespread use of data standards
  • Develops and executes project management plans for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources; supports initiatives with well-defined project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; manages minimal organizational resistance to cross-functional project demands; employs project management tools and technology (e.g., Microsoft Project, Program Management Group website, etc.)
  • Uses in-depth techniques to uncover new information or details that are not readily available; selects techniques and strategies that are appropriate for the audience; chooses techniques that result in more accurate and thorough information; implements strategies that minimize biases and preconceived ideas
  • Leverages technological knowledge to achieve business objectives; resolves technological issues impeding work; adapts technological information, facts, or data to varying situations or groups; recommends changes to technological approach based upon knowledge of trends and best practices
