The Industrial Engineering (IE) Technical Support Supervisor supports the design, implementation and management of technology related applications. He/She serves as the liaison between the user groups and applications development group. This position is responsible for decisions affecting the success of assigned projects (i.e., results, deadlines and cost constraints) and identifying/creating analyses methodology, technical requirements, designing, coding and testing. He/She contributes to improve visibility and align data/information views to improve business processes. The IE Technical Support Supervisor provides coaching, training and subject matter expertise for development, maintenance and support of field operations solutions. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Creates project plans and collaborates to support emerging technology solutions throughout freight operations
  • Generates queries to obtain data for internal customer requests and analyzes data to ensure the information is accurate and meets customer needs
  • Determines the information needs of stakeholders to create new reports/queries and utilizes advanced data retrieval methods (e.g., macros, etc.) to create/run queries efficiently
  • Performs User Acceptance Testing (UAT) testing of applications and develops training material
  • Implements newly innovated solutions and ensures they are delivered on time
  • Optimizes the business needs to help define the project’s requirements and technology support solutions
  • Documents accurate information and maintains organized files
  • Collaborates and manages diverse teams involving different perspectives for technology solution and business process developments 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Exhibits understanding of business processes and the current needs of operational functions
  • Demonstrates understanding of existing Information Systems (IS) and Freight Technology Systems (FTS)
  • Possesses operations experience in distribution environment
  • Exhibits knowledge of various Freight technology systems
  • Displays experience analyzing statistics and qualitative information
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate with internal and external customers
  • Experience within the Logistics, Transportation or Supply Chain industry - Preferred
  • Possesses experience working in database using Structured Query Language (SQL) – Preferred
