UPS is seeking an enthusiastic Part-Time Freight Supervisor for PM Freight Forwarding facility operations. He/She will manage the processing of inbound and outbound domestic and international freight shipments, and ensure governmental regulations and compliance requirements are met. The Freight Supervisor also monitors and ensures safety compliance and conducts facility and equipment safety checks and safety compliance training. This position oversees facility environmental management and ensures dangerous goods and hazardous materials shipments are properly handled. He/She manages hourly employees within the department. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Trains employees and documents processes to ensure understanding of governmental entity (e.g., Transportation Security Administration, Department of Transportation, U.S. Customs Border Protection, etc.) regulations and to meet compliance requirements
  • Performs compliance self-audits to identify high-risk and non-compliant areas and to correct issues
  • Conducts safety reviews and meetings to review safety procedures for key areas (e.g., facilities, drivers, dock and warehouse operations, etc.) and observe and evaluate employee understanding
  • Manages equipment utilization and protection to ensure employee understanding and to minimize accidents and damage
  • Builds up outbound cargo containers and trucks
  • Breaks down containers and trucks
  • Enters data and manifests of outbound shipments
  • Manages resources and people processes (e.g., Performance Management, Career Development, Training, Staffing, etc.) to ensure the day-to-day administration of processes and formal procedures
  • Conducts frequent performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to facilitate open communication and encourage continuous performance improvement
  • Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals
  • Resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS’s policies and procedures and CBA in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork
  • Coaches others and provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance
  • Works with AM Freight Supervisor and Ocean Air CS Supervisor to ensure well rounded communication and support for employees and customers

Knowledge and Skills

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
  • Air Freight & Dangerous Goods experience - Preferred
  • Forklift license - Preferred
