Job Summary

We are looking for a payroll / finance specialist to join our finance team in UPS Belgium. The primary objectives for this position is to support monthly payroll cycles for our business unit and to provide a tactical support with regards to local compensation and benefits practices. A person in this position must have a passion for payroll and finance as well as the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and building strong relationships at all levels of the organization.


Main Duties:

  • Correct and timely payment of salaries and premiums in cooperation with the external payroll provider
  • Coordinate various inputs and outputs between related parties: agency, PWC, tax department, HR department, social security authorities
  • Support internal and external requests (e.g. social documents to government, various internal and external payroll related audits)
  • Maintain related files/records in accordance with local legislation
  • Support any reporting needs in the payroll area
  • Audits areas of concern (e.g., unusual cost, overtime hours, etc.) to ensure proper reporting occurs.
  • Gathers and analyzes preliminary data for management team to help determine business drivers for specific Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  • Researches requested expenses and project trends for  division, business, and center managers to ensure operation within budget guidelines.
  • Basic Management Report preparation and ad hoc reports
  • Employee benefits administration - coordination
  • Compliance  activities
  • Assists in performing variance analysis of actual versus planned data in payroll and benefits accounts where targeted projections are not being obtained
  • Look for constant improvement opportunities in the payroll process
  • Support our employees on social legislation and compensation and benefits related questions

  • Your profile:
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent by relevant work experience in Payroll and / or Finance
  • Experience in payroll process minimum 1 year and legislation
  • Good practical knowledge of Belgian social legislation
  • Analytical mindset and high level of ownership/ accountability,  fast learner and team player
  • Ability to work with cross functional team members
  • Proficiency in MS Office; advanced excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English, French and/or Dutch
  • Experience with a payroll system is an asset
