Job Description:

The Brokerage Revenue Management Supervisor is responsible for development and execution of revenue management and pricing strategies to ensure profitable growth and yield for Brokerage services.  He/she helps create pricing guidelines, policies, and procedures, administers revenue management compliance and measurement objectives. He/She provides competitive rates and effective pricing strategies that both maximize profitability and favorably position UPS in the marketplace.

Job Duties:

Develops Revenue Management Policies and Procedures

  • Analyzes competitive environment and collaborates with internal departments to identify market conditions impacting UPS’s revenue management strategy.

  • Gathers and evaluates competitor intelligence (e.g., pricing postures, discount practices, response to UPS’s pricing actions, etc.) to uncover factors for loss and unrealized business.

  • Develops pricing response recommendation & determines relevant impact to internal dept & systems (e.g., Pricing, Billing, Sales, etc.) to submit to mgmt (e.g., Revenue Mgmt Manager, Rev Mgmt Director, etc.) for input and approval consideration.

  • Formulates clear policies and procedures to implement to Pricing groups via training initiatives.

  • Validates costing and pricing models authorization compliance to satisfy external audit requirements.

Evaluates and Analyzes Pricing Requests

  • Evaluates Pricing Requests from the field for accuracy, completeness, and validity to ensure all information is provided to fulfill the pricing request.

  • Determines necessary pricing levels to win or retain business and what value proposition UPS can provide.

  • Collaborates with district and country pricing teams as needed to gather all relevant data not included in the pricing requests.

  • Evaluates and analyzes customers’ shipping requests to gain a comprehensive understanding of customers’ needs and recommend UPS services.

Evaluates and Develops Pricing Strategies and Discounts

  • Evaluates competitive situations, current market conditions, and profitability of brokerage services and customers to formulate sales/pricing strategies.

  • Develops appropriate sales/pricing strategies to position UPS effectively and appropriately in relation to the competition and marketplace while taking profitability and contribution into consideration.

  • Develops Pricing Authorities to create official working documents for outlining the discount and approval levels.

  • Completes ad hoc analysis for upper management to provide information on financial impacts of different pricing scenarios (e.g., impacts of competitor vs. UPS offers, impacts of weight, impacts of rate increases, etc.)

Administers and Assists with Development of Pricing Guidelines

  • Reviews Brokerage products to relate product features and benefits to customer needs.

  • Analyzes UPS’s & competitors’ pricing components (e.g., published rates, pricing strategies, tactics, incentive levels, etc.) to determine rate differences, make UPS pricing enhancement recommendations and modify UPS’s pricing guidelines accordingly.

  • Analyzes package volume and revenue to evaluate trends by segment, country, service, and product.

  • Administers pricing guidelines, operating ratios, and authority matrices to create pricing input data used in pricing tools and costing models.

  • Utilizes advanced Access and Data Warehouse skills to complete reports and analyses.

General Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree
MBA / Marketing Master is a plus

Minimum 3-4 years’ experience
Marketing/Rev.Mgt, Pricing or Operations/Brokerage experience is a plus

Skills & Characteristics:

Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with deadlines

Strong analytical and communication skills

Fluent in English (speaking/writing); another language is a plus
