Job Summary

This position will manage UPS’s international external, employee engagement, and social communications efforts to advance storytelling, promote and protect the company’s reputation and build its brand relevance as a purpose-driven company. This role will be a key part of the overall corporate affairs team, collaborating across communications, public affairs and community relations departments to reach critical stakeholder groups including customers, employees, influencers, policymakers, investors, consumers, media and others. The incumbent demonstrates experience developing global integrated and strategic communications programs in international markets that span media relations, storytelling, employee communications, business and policy communications, digital and social media.

This position is a hands-on, senior communications professional with exceptional writing, media relations and social media capabilities. The incumbent will have the ability to work with senior executives as well as work cross-functionally with other departments and collaborates with other members of UPS’s Global Communications team to develop strategy and execute a range of activities. 


  • Works with senior management to develop yearly goals that align with annual corporate initiatives; puts in place measurement and analytics to track progress
  • Manages resources and people processes (e.g., Performance Management, Career Development, Succession Planning, Salary Administration, Training, Staffing, etc.) to ensure the day-to-day administration of processes and formal procedures
  • Drives communications infrastructure changes (i.e., electronic and print) to improve communications effectiveness in reaching employees
  • Gains input from cross-functional business partners to develop consistent, measureable initiatives/programs to be leveraged across functional areas and communications channels
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and senior management to identify opportunities and strategic direction, to ensure integrated programs deliver optimal value, and to drive employee behavior
  • Reviews execution of the Brand Management strategies to ensure the company's marketing campaigns and initiatives gain the support of internal stakeholders
  • Ensures key messages to global audiences are aligned with corporate strategies
  • Develops long-term communications strategies to ensure yearly priorities are aligned with long-term business objectives
  • Works with senior management to develop yearly goals that align with annual corporate initiatives
  • Builds relationships with key decision makers to assist in the development and execution of strategic internal communications
  • Negotiates departmental support with stakeholders to ensure allocated resources are balanced among internal clients and business priorities
  • Makes strategic decisions about the lateral movement and promotion of people to develop skills and fill key positions  


  • Possesses excellent communication (written/oral), interpersonal and presentation skills with ability to effectively interface with senior management; solid writing and editing experience
  • Demonstrates experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of international communicators
  • Displays ability to make decisions in a changing environment, anticipate future needs and a team player
  • Possesses track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans/output and innovative thinker
  • Displays ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, excellent organization and time management skills; is detail oriented
  • Collaborates, energetic, flexible, and proactive team leader who can positively and productively impact global and regional initiatives
  • Displays ability to work cross-functionally across corporate departments such as marketing, HR, legal, strategy, operations and others, is result-oriented
  • Demonstrates experience in managing global integrated strategic communications, media relations, employee engagement and social media to advance the company’s mission and goals
  • Builds relationships with top tier reporters and editors, and in successfully positioning subject matter with the media to achieve high-impact placements
  • Develops and manages strategy for international social media campaigns to raise brand familiarity and relevance
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in journalism, communications or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior management role either in-house or with an agency, including managing international communications
  • Experience working on public affairs/public policy communications
