UPS is seeking an individual with strong analytical and technical skills to fill the Cost Analysis Supervisor II position. This position supports our Activity-Based Cost (ABC) models used for measuring product and customer profitability. He/She evaluates, designs, implements and tests processes used to support our cost models, involving researching large stores of customer and operational data contained in UPS systems and developing methodologies for assigning cost to customers and products. He/She supports existing models and participates in future model development efforts.

The ideal Cost Analysis Supervisor II will have experience working with large structured databases and possess strong SQL skills. He/She will use SQL, MS Office products and internal UPS systems to query, analyze and summarize findings. He/She will also use SQL skills to review current methodologies and implement changes.    

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Performs data analytics to analyze and synthesize insights based on business needs
  • Evaluates operational and financial data to determine best approach for application in cost and pricing models
  • Evaluates model processes and implements costing methodologies based on user requirements and/or business conditions
  • Reviews model output to ensure results are within expected range and troubleshoots processes
  • Documents processes and communicates findings to team

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of database design principles; identifies users’ requirements and needs with guidance from others; demonstrates a basic understanding of the importance of maintaining and updating databases
  • Ability to understand data and its business context
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work with cross functional teams 
  • Demonstrates excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates an understanding of basic financial terminology and concepts such as cash flows, operating profit/loss, and net income; conducts financial analyses
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience working with and manipulating large sets of data
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Economics, Finance or Business Administration - Preferred
  • Experience interpreting and writing SQL queries - Preferred
  • Understanding of UPS operations - Preferred
