Driver Helper Onboarding FAQ

Everything You Need to Know for Your First Day

What should I wear?

We will provide you with a reflective vest. We’re fairly flexible with what you wear so long as it’s comfortable and practical. Our only rules are no loose-fitting clothes that might get caught in mechanical equipment, no shirts, hats or jackets with offensive themes, images or logos, and no loose or long jewelry—it’s better to leave all jewelry at home.

Shoes or boots must be black or brown and polishable. They must have sturdy uppers made of leather, man-made leather or similar protective material, provide good support and have non-slip soles. Examples of bad footwear include tennis shoes/sneakers/running shoes, loafers, sandals and anything that does not provide protection and support.

What documents do I need to bring with me?

Please bring a valid (non-expired) Government Issued Photo ID with you on your first day. Review the list of acceptable documents and BRING ORIGINALS—copies will not be accepted. Please print, complete and remember to bring your I-9 form with you.

How will UPS get in touch with me prior to my start date?

You could receive further communications about your start date and/or online training by email, text or phone. Please be ready to respond. You will also be required to meet up with a representative to complete your employment processing documents before you can start—make sure you coordinate reliable transportation for this.

How do I get to my pick-up location?

How you get to and from your assigned pick-up spot is up to you. All we ask is that you report for work on time every day—your driver and our customers are counting on you. So make sure you keep your phone charged and near you each morning, and you’re ready to start your shift within 30 minutes of being contacted.

Is there anything else I need to bring with me?

Bring water and light snacks. The work here is very physical and you’ll need to keep your energy up.
