Job Description:

UPS Global Public Affairs presents an exciting opportunity for the annual Public Affairs Fellow in Washington, D.C. As a global leader in logistics and the world’s largest transportation services company, UPS is seeking college graduates or individuals with advanced degrees to apply for the International Fellowship position. This role will be based in the UPS Global Public Affairs office in Washington, D.C. This is a one-year Fellowship. We are seeking professionals with robust analytical capabilities and a long-term aspiration to pursue a career in international public policy, trade, or international government affairs.

The successful applicant will possess a background that includes previous undergraduate or graduate school experience in public policy (domestic or international), and/or business. The position necessitates excellent research, writing, verbal communication, and analytical skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong desire to deepen their understanding of the politics, policies, and processes that influence regulatory outcomes. Candidates should exhibit the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-disciplinary and global teams, engaging with key external stakeholders in trade associations, governments, and international organizations.

The primary focus of this position will be on conducting research, drafting policy papers, performing statistical analysis, and preparing presentations on policy issues such as international trade, supply chain, trade regulations, e-commerce, cross-border trade, tax, postal and customs, sustainability, and other UPS priorities. The position offers a competitive wage, and the selected individual will join a professional, fast-paced, and dynamic advocacy team that leads complex policy initiatives critical to the company's objectives.

The Fellow will work to enhance UPS relationships with key government officials and industry organizations to foster a business and policy environment conducive to our growth objectives and our vision for sustainability and corporate responsibility. This role is based in Washington, D.C., where the individual fulfilling this role will be integrated into a relatively small but engaged and diverse team of government relations professionals. They will have an opportunity to undertake substantial work beyond a typical Fellow, gaining valuable experience in public policy, lobbying, and corporate strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Have an interest in a future career in law, government, or government relations.
