Public Affairs Manager

The Public Affairs Manager’s main role is to be the interface between UPS and Italian public policy authorities and to represent UPS in key trade associations in order to advance key policy and regulatory priorities for the organization. The Manager will be part of the UPS West Europe PA team and is responsible for analyzing relevant policy proposals, assessing the impact on UPS, reviewing with the relevant internal departments, and developing and executing the external advocacy activities to advance UPS’s interests. She/He will also work with the UPS Italian business unit to ensure PA is providing the appropriate support to achieve their business plans. The Manager is responsible for supporting Senior Executives in their external activities with public officials.

The Italy Public Affairs Manager will be an internal subject matter expert on specific policy areas and also represent UPS externally on these issues. She/he will be a UPS brand ambassador.

Responsabilities:

ü Develop and execute UPS’s position, strategy and advocacy plans on Italian policy

proposals;

ü Prepare internal briefing notes and asses impact of proposals on UPS Italy;

ü Prepare external briefing materials;

ü Support Senior Management at external events and activities;

ü Represent UPS in external organizations and take an active and leading role in these organizations to secure UPS’s interests;

ü Actively develop and maintain an external network of relevant contacts, including

government officials, business representatives, and relevant stakeholders;

ü Be a UPS spokesperson on specific policy issues.



Skills and experience:

ü University education: Master’s level, public policy, legal, or business degree;

ü Good understanding of the Italian Institutions and decision making process;

ü 3-6 years experience in the Public affairs world- in a large company would be a plus;

ü Excellent writing and presentation skills– effective use of Word, Powerpoint, and Excel;

ü Good interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally and proactively;

ü Excellent level of English for internal communication is needed;

ü Basic understanding and insight of some of the following policy areas: Transportation, Urban Mobility and Sustainability; Ecommerce, Labor, and Postal policy;

ü Fluent in Italian and English. Any other EU language is a plus.
