About Applications Development at UPS Technology:

Our Application Development teams use their expertise in programming languages and software design to develop next-generation technology. They are responsible for developing the applications which track and move up to 38 million packages in a single day (4.7 billion annually). This team works closely with all of our customers to build innovative technologies that are customized to drive our business and provide the ultimate customer experience.  As a member of the applications development family, you will help UPS grow and provide valuable services across the globe.

About this role:

The Senior Applications Developer must have strong skills and experience in web application development and testing. This person is heavily engaged in full systems life cycle management activities (e.g. planning, analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.). S/he participates in data, component, and system integration architecture/design. He/she understands the importance of being a team player, an active listener, and treating people with respect. S/he follows through on responsibilities without reminders, performs tasks and completes deliverables within planned durations and established deadlines.

This position collaborates with teams to ensure effective communication in supporting the achievement of objectives. The candidate must have strong communication (oral/written) skills to be able to express technical/business concepts and ideas. Strong planning, organization, analytical, problem solving and meeting facilitation skills. S/he has initiative and takes ownership of necessary work, possible improvements, problems, and their mistakes as well as successes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years hands-on professional experience in web application development using Java/Spring and/or Angular
• Experience with Agile Development, Microsoft Team Foundational Server (TFS) or equivalent, GIT
• Experience with SQL Programming, Linux Fundamentals, OpenShift (DevOps) and Tomcat
• Oracle PL/SQL and MS SSIS nice to have
• Knowledge of Requirements Analysis, and Troubleshooting skills
• Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational/time-management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or the equivalent in education and work experience
• Comfortable mentoring and teaching others
