Construction Project Managers
Project Managers at UPS lead a team of architects, contractors, and consultants in the design and construction of UPS operating facilities. Project managers oversee various aspects of building construction, manage the cost to meet the budget, track the project performance against schedules and critical path.
UPS Facilities Engineering Managers
UPS Facility Engineering Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the UPS package sorting facilities. Responsibilities include managing technical staff in maintaining automated and conventional package sorting and building systems at their optimal design capacity and specification. Facility managers have direct responsibility for contractors to oversee capital improvement projects at the existing facilities. The responsibilities for environmental and safety compliance also fall within the functions of the Facility Engineering Manager.

Engineers research and collaborate with vendors to incorporate the latest engineering technologies to deliver the most efficient and cost-effective solutions in the material-handling industry.

Automation Engineers collaborate with the systems, electrical, and mechanical teams to design and implement Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems to handle the sortation reporting of up to 100,000 package per hour. Automation engineers oversee contractors in the design and programming of PLC/HMI, test and commission automated control systems, and provide training and technical support for the end user. Through continued research in new vendor technologies, the Automation Engineer provides future direction for the implementation of the latest technology to achieve the most efficient and effective solutions.

Environmental Engineering
Sustainability and Environmental Engineers
Sustainability and Environmental Engineers support the corporate sustainability objectives with alternate fuel (Compressed natural Gas, Liquid Natural Gas, electric and propane) deployments and green facility design (LEED Certified buildings). Sustainability and Environmental engineers work with outside agencies to implement best management practices at all facilities to reduce the carbon footprint of the organization by analyzing the scientific data and monitoring the progress of environmental improvement programs. Environmental engineers ensure environmental and safety compliance for UPS facilities by reviewing applicable facility regulations, performing trend analysis for compliance activities and developing corrective action plans.

Department: Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) – Worldport, 911 Grade Lane, Louisville KY 40213
Job Description:
The Buildings & Systems Engineering (BaSE) Part-Time Supervisor protects UPS assets including buildings, equipment, and grounds. This position is located in the Air Park/Worldport. Work environment is divided between the office and the field/operation area.
Available position will be in one the following areas of the BaSE Function:

Process Support Group (PSG)
-
Sort & Repair Crew – He/she will be responsible for supervising conveyor maintenance employees. The Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment where abilities to multitask and attention to detail are required. He/she will be responsible for the dispatching of work, de-logging of work, and follow-up on repairs. He/she will deliver environmental, regulatory, safety and health compliance training.

OPC – He/she will monitor the sortation system utilizing multiple software applications while interacting with conveyor mechanics and operations employees. The Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment where abilities to multitask and attention to detail are required. He/she may also deliver environmental, regulatory, safety and health compliance training.

Facilities Support Group (FSG) - He/she will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the automated facility systems; including HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, etc. The Supervisor will work directly with outside service vendors to ensure that all systems are maintained at optimal levels. The Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment where abilities to multitask and attention to detail are required. He/she may also deliver environmental, regulatory, safety and health compliance training.

Housekeeping - He/she will be responsible for supervising housekeeping employees. In carrying out housekeeping duties, the Supervisor ensures that facility appearance is maintained at an acceptable level for the most reasonable cost. He/she will deliver environmental, regulatory, safety and health compliance training.
Position allows the ability to gain engineering and operations experience. This role will provide continuous career development based on the needs of the employee and the company. Activities performed include but are not limited to responding to internal customer requests, responding to facility alarms and emergencies and troubleshooting problems that arise. This position is part of a team that provides 24x7 coverage, including possible holidays and weekends.
Required Skills:

Currently pursuing or possesses a Bachelor’s degree or an applicable technical degree or trade.

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Possess strong oral, written interpersonal and organizational skills.

Multitask, run various systems simultaneously and monitor systems from a computer station.

Detail orientated.
Preferred Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively with all employee groups including all levels of the management team.
Interpersonal Skills:
Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to speak to large groups of employees.
