Candidates will work primarily in an office environment with opportunities to offer worldwide engineering support. UPS Aircraft Engineers regularly interface with Boeing, Airbus, various component manufacturers, repair & overhaul facilities, and other outside agencies. Our Co-ops have the opportunity to be involved in these discussions alongside our experienced engineers from our Air Group Building and our Aircraft Hangar. Both sites are located in Louisville, KY.
Aircraft Engineering Co-ops are responsible for supporting engineers in resolution of aircraft maintenance and reliability items. This may include researching technical issues, authoring Engineering Orders, preparing CAD drawings, analyzing data, performing basic stress analysis, and contributing to engineering projects. Co-op must have strong mechanical and/or electrical background with an aptitude for hands-on projects and technical writing, the ability to communicate clearly, and work well with others in a team environment. Ideal candidate will be an engineering student interested in gaining one year of practical hands-on experience. This co-op program requires THREE semesters in support of Aircraft Engineering.
Required Skills:
- Student should be well-versed in Microsoft Office products.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering Program.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of UPS operations or business.
- Effective analysis skills.
- Effective research and communication skills.
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work within a group. Possesses integrity and accountability. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, goal and detail oriented, resourceful with an interest in problem solving, focused on customer service and a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
