Construction Project Managers

Project Managers at UPS lead a team of architects, contractors, and consultants in the design and construction of UPS operating facilities. Project managers oversee various aspects of building construction, manage the cost to meet the budget, track the project performance against schedules and critical path.

UPS Facilities Engineering Managers

UPS Facility Engineering Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the UPS package sorting facilities. Responsibilities include managing technical staff in maintaining automated and conventional package sorting and building systems at their optimal design capacity and specification. Facility managers have direct responsibility for contractors to oversee capital improvement projects at the existing facilities. The responsibilities for environmental and safety compliance also fall within the functions of the Facility Engineering Manager.

Automation engineers oversee contractors in the design and programming of PLC/HMI, test and commission automated control systems, and provide training and technical support for the end user. Through continued research in new vendor technologies, the Automation Engineer provides future direction for the implementation of the latest technology to achieve the most efficient and effective solutions.

Environmental Engineering

Sustainability and Environmental Engineers

Sustainability and Environmental Engineers support the corporate sustainability objectives with alternate fuel (Compressed natural Gas, Liquid Natural Gas, electric and propane) deployments and green facility design (LEED Certified buildings). Sustainability and Environmental engineers work with outside agencies to implement best management practices at all facilities to reduce the carbon footprint of the organization by analyzing the scientific data and monitoring the progress of environmental improvement programs. Environmental engineers ensure environmental and safety compliance for UPS facilities by reviewing applicable facility regulations, performing trend analysis for compliance activities and developing corrective action plans.

Work Environment:
 

The Engineer will work primarily in an office environment with some work being accomplished at aircraft maintenance facilities and other locations, as required, to support project activity and for hands on interface with aircraft and maintenance personnel..


Job Summary:   
The Aircraft Structures Engineer position is part of Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering within UPS Airlines and is focused on providing engineering support for A300, 747, 757, 767, and MD-11 cargo aircraft.  Structures Engineering includes project management of structural based projects, structural repairs, as well as cargo systems and aircraft appearance. Travel 5-6 times per year.


Job Description:
 

The position requires skills and experience in project development and management as well as structural repair design and approval. Project activity includes AD and other regulatory compliance, aircraft configuration definition and control, aging fleet programs (CPCP, AASFR, SSID, etc.), and reliability and cost savings initiatives related to aircraft structures and/or cargo systems. Repair activity includes analysis, oversight, and approval of structural repairs on the airframe and structural components by third party maintenance providers. The position requires proficiency in technical analysis, a working knowledge of aircraft certification requirements, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and being comfortable working with other departments and outside organizations.


Required Skills:  

  • Minimum of three (3) years of aerospace related engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree - Preferred field is Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other technical degree with equivalent engineering experience.
  • Be computer literate in basic office software.
  • Have CAD experience.
  • Have good mechanical background with aptitude to hands-on projects.


Preferred Skills
:   

  • Applicant should have a working knowledge of FAA regulations (14CFR25) associated with structural repairs and/or cargo systems.


Interpersonal Skills:  
Applicant should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate a positive attitude, and have the ability to work well with others at all levels within Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering.
