Aircraft Engineer

Job Title:  Aircraft Engineer 

Department: Component Engineering

Engineer will work primarily in office environment with some work being accomplished at aircraft maintenance facilities and other locations as required to support project activity and for hands on interface with aircraft and maintenance personnel.  

Aircraft Avionics / Systems / Component Engineering department supports the UPS fleet of A300, 747, 757, 767, and MD-11 cargo aircraft by maintaining airworthiness, reliability, regulatory compliance as required by the FAA and Component Repair approvals to reduce repair cost and improve reliability. 

Aircraft engineering position requires experience in aircraft avionic system, mechanical systems, component repairs, federal regulations, development of modifications/repairs, project planning, and project management. 

Responsibilities and Duties:                                             

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Aircraft configuration management

  • Certification approvals

  • Airworthiness directives

  • Data analysis

  • Component repair and reliability improvements

  • Project development and implementation

  • Oversight of aircraft/component reliability solutions and modifications

Ideal candidates for positions will possess the following desired skills and qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills

  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others

  • Hands-on approach to projects

Skills and Knowledge:    

  • Minimum of three (3) year experience of aviation industry related engineering experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

  • Computer literate in basic office software, have CAD experience, and have good mechanical / electrical background with aptitude to hands-on projects.   

  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations (14CFR25) associated with aircraft mechanical and avionics systems installations and component repair DER / PMA approvals.

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude

  • Ability to work well with others at all levels within Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering.

Additional Notes:   

As part of the UPS pre-employment process for a safety sensitive position. A drug screen is required. UPS must receive a negative test result before you can be put into a safety sensitive position (14 CFR Part 120.107 (a) 4).
