We are currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to impact the organization to oversee the performance of all facility's maintenance services for an autonomous location of UPS SCS. This individual performs comprehensive multi-level technical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility and equipment at a level requiring appropriate experience and technical skill. Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Initiates, oversees and coordinates the work of contractors and vendors on an as-needed basis
  • May work extended hours, as required by operational needs, 24/7 On-Call Status
  • Oversees the completion and documentation and filing of  maintenance work orders by contractors and vendors, guides and assists as necessary with complex tasks, and performs quality inspections of work as appropriate
  • Maintains log books as required by customer
  • Facilitates all maintenance activity which typically includes scheduling, procurement of materials and problem resolution
  • Monitors and coordinates maintenance and repair of all building electrical systems, heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, water treatment and plumbing systems; performs multi-level technical maintenance and/or schedules repair tasks to be completed by outside vendors as appropriate
  • Investigates and troubleshoots problems with facility security system, fire suppression equipment and emergency lighting and coordinates problem resolution as appropriate
  • Troubleshoots and resolves or oversees resolution of routine maintenance problems as determined by daily, weekly and monthly inspections
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly inspections
  • Oversees and coordinates routing facilities maintenance activities for location, to include snow removal; housekeeping, grounds keeping, waste removal and recycling activities
  • Prepares and maintains records on all maintenance activities
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices through monthly facility audits
  • Ensures compliance issues and facility specific needs are fulfilled
  • Performs Contractor Pre-Job review with all contractors including Lock Out/Tag Out procedures if needed
  • Obtain quotes from vendors as required by the customer
  • Serve as contact person for new vendors and suppliers when needed
  • Performs miscellaneous job duties, not limited to this list, as deemed necessary
  • Overseeing maintenance/custodial operations for a facility
  • Coordinating and overseeing contractors and vendors; monitoring work performance by service agencies
  • Maintaining inventories and purchasing plant materials as necessary as well as locating vendors or suppliers of necessary parts as local as possible

Candidate must demonstrate records maintenance skills and computer literacy. Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written. Strong working knowledge and understanding of building electrical systems, HVAC systems, plumbing, and water supply systems. Basic carpentry, assembly and installation skills. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, engineering documents and specifications. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade as well as more sophisticated test equipment and specialized equipment. Ability to work in elevated locations up to 50 feet. Ability to perform preventive maintenance on a range of facility equipment in accordance with established guidelines and to dismantle, repair, install, or move machinery and mechanical equipment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
