Job Summary

This position supervises day-to-day operational activities. The incumbent monitors contractor performance and training to ensure productivity standards are met. This role confers with hubs, gateways and service center personnel to plan for special handling situations, resolve logistical issues and prevent service failures. The incumbent investigates safety and service escalations to identify resolutions. This position develops operational reports to highlight trends and performance indices for management review. The incumbent monitors hub staffing to recommend productivity improvements and expense reductions. This role supervises hourly employees within the department.

  • Supervises and develops others


  • Distinguishes between “big picture” concepts, comments and specialized, smaller specific facts associated with work; notes the specifics of events and experiences; explains, in general, how details impact end goals or outcomes; ensures that work is completed accurately and with the appropriate level of detail
  • Demonstrates an understanding of processes, procedures and technology for intermodal transportation; identifies root causes of recurring issues within freight forwarding operations and describes the general structure of freight forwarding operations
  • Understands processes, procedures and methods for hub operations; demonstrates knowledge of tools, equipment and technology used in hub operations; identifies root causes of recurring issues within hub operations and describes the general structure of hub operations
  • Applies knowledge of agencies' functions and regulations to compliance and enforcement activities; identifies routine situations where the organization may be out of compliance as well as the specific impacts of non-compliance
