Job Summary:  The UPS Flight forward (UPSFF) Technical Pilot manages the technical and safety aspects of an unmanned aerial system (UAS) fleet.  They must have extensive knowledge of UPSFF drone systems, manuals, and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals.  The position will work directly with OEMs during acquisition, new version releases and updates of drone equipment.  They will provide support to maintenance, training, operations, and represent UPSFF to external organizations.  This position is responsible for adhering to FAA regulation and UPSFF policies and procedures while ensuring safety and efficiency with flight operations.  This position must be able to qualify and instruct as a check airman.  Previous instructor experience preferred.

Job Description:  Duties include managing configurations of aircraft equipment, to provide recommendations and to request specific modifications (e.g., improved and updated parts and functionality, etc.).  Review and write aircraft manual material and provide content for training.  Attend meetings with functional groups (e.g., maintenance, operations, etc.) to provide status updates regarding aircraft issues, incidents, delays, and to review standards and policies.  Report safety-related issues and assists with investigations to ensure regulatory requirements and safety concerns are addressed.  Represent UPSFF to regulatory organizations such as FAA and DOT.

Required Skills:  Hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate, hold a current Remote Pilot Certificate, current Second Class Medical Certificate, valid passport, and have authorization to work in the United States.  Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems, manuals, aircraft manufacturer manuals. Strong communications skills and the ability to represent UPSFF in various meetings with internal and external customers.

Preferred Skills:  Airframe and Powerplant Certificate, Dispatch experience, and Instructor experience.  Ability to utilize MS Office and Project software.

Interpersonal Skills:  Adaptable to new ideas, resourceful, and able to see the big picture with a growing and developing environment.  Positive leadership skills required, which include good communication and listening skills. Ability to embrace change and new concepts.
