UPS Europe Strategic Marketing Communications Manager

The Marketing Communications Manager executes the company’s communications strategy across the region to support the strategic business objectives. This position drives integrated multi-channel marketing and communications campaigns for customers, media and external stakeholders. Responsible for connecting the customer journey, elevating brand awareness and visibility, as well as driving customer engagement and loyalty. He/She leads a team of communications specialists and agencies, develops strategic content and messaging, directs and monitors program status, manages budgets and measures communications effectiveness and ROI across digital and traditional channels.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced strategic communications executive with significant commercial experience, a strong affinity for digital, and a passion for writing and content creation.
Communications Strategy, Planning and Execution
•Collaborates and works cross functionally with key stakeholders at corporate, region and country levels to gather input and briefs to develop and execute integrated multi-channel communication strategies that support the strategic business objectives
•Develops channel strategies to optimize communication programs and campaigns.
•Leads planning and execution of promotion efforts for integrated campaigns to ensure alignment with strategies, initiatives, business and communication objectives
•Maintains awareness of competitive communications strategy and business-to-business industry best practices to determine the strategic direction for communications plans and programs.
•Manages strategic input process and execution of all key campaign elements (brief, creative & content development, media planning, measurement, etc.)
•Develops content that is relevant for key internal and external audiences and activate this in impactful way across digital and traditional channels.
•Oversees the development and implementation of interactive campaign project plans to ensure proficiency and achieve desired results.
•Works with stakeholders to assess urgent communications needs, priorities and timing and to facilitate timely communications to customers and sales.
•Ensures integration of the global overarching UPS messaging architecture with supporting elements, to ensure strategic integration of content.
Reputation and Thought Leadership
•Provides reputation and thought leadership support across the region and drives strategic content development and positioning
•Manages crisis communications
Evaluates Effectiveness of Communications Programs
•Establishes performance metrics and develops a measurement plan to identify and measure ROI targets.
•Measures brand impact of communications initiatives to improve brand perception and preference and to build brand attributes.
•Evaluates competitive communications to determine communications strategies and plans for strengthening UPS’s competitive advantage.
Manages Agency and Vendor Relationships
•Oversees regional/local vendors and other suppliers providing creative services including freelance writers, graphic artists, digital agencies, printers, photographers, film crews, etc.
•Provides direction to agencies and vendors to ensure campaign effectiveness and alignment with communication objectives and strategy.
•Monitors agency and vendor performance to ensure agreements, standards, and performance targets are met.
Leads and Develops Others
•Leads and manages a team of talented marketing communication specialists.
•Develops team’s knowledge, expertise and skills, identifies development needs and coaches and supports individuals’ career development.
Skills and Experiences:
•Excellent command of written and spoken English (native level is compulsory). Knowledge of any other European language is an asset.
•Communicate and write effectively and with impact, tailoring content to intended audiences.
•Strong strategic capability with proven experience developing and implementing digital marketing strategy
•Proven ability to work with and influence a range of stakeholders
•Strong project management and decision-making skills
•Ability to work in an organized and timely manner on several projects simultaneously with attention to detail and accuracy.
•Team player with the interpersonal skills to lead and manage a team of communication specialists in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
•5-7+ years’ experience managing and executing communications strategies and deliverables in a corporate environment.
