The Strategic Sourcing Manager drives the execution of strategic sourcing activities and the delivery of procurement strategies. He/She manages all aspects of the strategic sourcing process, working closely with category leads to secure the best value for UPS. The Strategic Sourcing Manager analyzes spend and market data and works closely with the category owners to elaborate the category strategy. He/She leverages best in class processes and tools to guide the strategy process that dictates the action plan. The Strategic Sourcing Manager project-manages the execution of the action plan and ensures the tracking and reporting of the results is accurate and up-to-date. He/She coordinates execution globally and ensures all stakeholders are appropriately involved.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manages planning, tracking and execution of all strategic sourcing activities within relevant categories
  • Identifies opportunities within categories and work with category leads on category strategy development
  • Develops and communicates the strategic sourcing plan and timeline to ensure desired results are achieved
  • Manipulates large data sets containing large amounts of information to translate into common formats for further analysis
  • Communicates solutions and desired results to stakeholders and senior management to obtain approval and support for implementation
  • Participates in development of templates, processes and implementation of software solutions
  • Remains current on strategic sourcing and procurement best practices and tools
  • Manages workload of the team and develops team members knowledge and skills

Knowledge and Skills

  • 5-8 years' knowledge and experience in strategic sourcing and procurement
  • 1+ years' experience with strategic sourcing tools like Ariba and Trade Extensions
  • Strong analytical skills, and experience dealing with large amount of complex data
  • 3-5 years' experience in project management, involving cross function and global teams
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence at various levels of the organization
  • Applies advanced financial analysis techniques to draw conclusions from financial data; understands and evaluates implications of alternatives; makes decisions on an appropriate course of action
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree)
  • Available to travel 15% 
  • 3-5 years' knowledge of statistical methodology, analyses and tests (e.g. multivariate analysis of variance, factor analysis, multiple and non-linear regression, cluster analysis, structural equation modeling, partial least squares analysis, etc.)
  • 3-5 years' experience pulling and blending data from multiple data sources (including data warehouse)
  • 1 year experience programming in at least one statistical software package 
  • Master's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
