Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a growing organization within UPS, leveraging new technologies to help make UPS's marketing efforts more data and analytics driven? The Digital Data Platform team partners with campaign owners, channel owners, media agencies, data scientists, and IT to develop new audiences and deliver them to the activation platforms that support the targeting and personalization of all channels, including ups.com, paid media, and email. In addition, the team ensures that quality performance data is captured and tools are developed to support digital performance reporting and audience insights mining.

The Data Scientist is in the central role of connecting with multiple stakeholders to design, conduct, and evaluate digital marketing strategy and tactics. He/She leverages advanced analytics and machine learning techniques, develops customer behavior models and provides insights to marketing teams to support digital marketing strategy.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Understands stakeholders’ requests, translates business questions to model/analytical problems, and describes potential solutions, issues, or limitations
  • Conducts customer/audience analysis to support campaign design, including customer segmentation definitions and preliminary sizing and overlap analysis
  • Explains how audience drives conversion rates and overall campaign effectiveness
  • Identifies additional data needs and supports data/operation team on the solutions
  • Evaluates digital campaign performance by developing robust A/B testing and/or multivariate testing procedures, and provides feedback and learning to stakeholders
  • Provides feedback to stakeholders on best practices to achieve campaign goals for customers at different lifecycle stages

Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep understanding of machine learning and statistical models with their underlying theory and math
  • Demonstrated work in building, deploying and demonstrating business value from predictive models and data products
  • Proficient in Python, R, and SQL
  • Experience with distributed machine learning and big data tools such as Hive, Pig, Spark, HBase, Hadoop etc.
  • Experienced in data management platform (DMP) to reach the audience through digital marketing channels
  • Experienced in evaluating third party data sets to enrich audience and analysis look-alike model
  • Detail oriented
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics or related field - Preferred
